Why Golfers Add SIMRail

Full Left- And Right-Handed Play In A Room That Was Never Wide Enough.

Overhead launch monitors need the sensor sitting on the correct side of the hitting area for the golfer at the tee. In a wide commercial bay that is easy. In a spare bedroom, basement, or garage bay it usually means one handedness gets a compromised setup — or someone climbs a ladder every time a lefty steps in. SIMRail removes that problem entirely.

SIMRail is a motorized, ceiling-mounted rail system that carries an overhead launch monitor along 4′6″ of lateral travel and repositions it automatically based on the golfer's handedness in GSPro. It makes a single overhead sensor fully dual-handed in rooms as narrow as roughly 10 feet, with three programmable stop positions — left, center, and right — and no manual adjustment between players.

The Narrow-Room Problem

One Sensor. Two Handedness Positions. No Ladder.

A dual-handed overhead build normally wants 13 to 15 feet of width so the sensor can stay centered over a hitting area that serves both sides. Below that, the sensor ends up biased toward one golfer, and tracking on the other side suffers. SIMRail solves it with motion instead of width: the monitor physically travels to the correct side before the shot.

Because the rail mounts overhead, floor space stays completely clear. Cables stay tucked along the ceiling, the hitting area stays open, and switching between a right-handed and left-handed golfer becomes automatic rather than a mid-session interruption.

What This Means

SIMRail turns a single-handed overhead simulator into a true two-golfer bay without buying a second launch monitor, widening the room, or accepting a compromised sensor position for lefties.

4′6″ Of Rail Travel

Full lateral travel across the rail, giving a standard offset capability of ±2′3″ from center.

Three Stop Positions

Left, center, and right positions are all user-defined and stored, so every shot starts from a repeatable location.

GSPro-Linked Motion

SIMRail reads the active golfer's hand setting in GSPro and moves the sensor to the matching side before the shot.

Tunable Speed

Slide speed and acceleration are adjustable for a gentle, quiet reposition or a faster transition between players.

Installation Requirement — Overhead Ceiling Mounting

SIMRail is a ceiling-mounted rail and must be anchored into structure capable of carrying the rail plus the launch monitor. Confirm ceiling height and clearance for your overhead sensor before ordering. Overhead mounting and clearance guidance is covered on the overhead launch monitor setup and support page.

Software Requirement — GSPro For Automatic Handedness

Automatic left/right repositioning is driven by GSPro. GSPro requires its own separate license. SIMRail motion control, position programming, and speed settings are configured through the SIMRail interface over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

Built For Tight Simulator Bays.

Motorized Ceiling Rail

A driven carriage moves the launch monitor along the rail on command — no manual sliding, no ladder, no unmounting.

Functional At ~10′ Width

Deploys full left- and right-handed capability in rooms that are too narrow for a fixed dual-handed overhead setup.

GSPro Handedness Sync

Reads the player's hand setting in GSPro and positions the sensor accordingly before the shot is taken.

Programmable Center Stop

Assign specific clubs — a putter, for example — to trigger the center position so both golfers use one spot.

Wireless Control

Communicates over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so no control run has to be pulled down from the ceiling.

Speed And Acceleration Tuning

Dial in how quickly and how gently the carriage travels to suit the room, the mount, and personal preference.

Repeatable Positioning

Stored stop positions return the sensor to the same coordinates every time, keeping tracking geometry consistent.

Clear Floor, Clean Install

Everything lives overhead. The hitting area, mat, and walk-in space stay completely unobstructed.

Designed For Overhead Launch Monitors

  • Built to carry ceiling-mounted overhead sensors rather than floor or side-mounted units
  • Handedness automation is driven through GSPro, so any overhead monitor running GSPro can benefit
  • Confirm the mounting footprint and weight of your specific monitor bracket before installation
  • Pairs naturally with the VTrack Overhead Launch Monitor and other overhead sensors sold by Elite Sim Golf

What You Configure

  • Left position for right-handed golfers
  • Right position for left-handed golfers
  • Center position plus the clubs that should trigger it
  • Travel speed and acceleration for the carriage
  • Connection method — Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
How SIMRail Positions The Sensor

Three Programmable Stops Across 4′6″ Of Travel.

Every stop position is set once during configuration and recalled automatically afterward. The result is a repeatable sensor location for right-handed play, left-handed play, and any club assigned to the center of the hitting area.

Left

Right-Handed Stop

Recalled automatically for right-handed golfers

  • User-defined position
  • Optimal sensor offset for RH swings
  • Stored and repeatable
Center

Shared Club Stop

Assign specific clubs to this position

  • Ideal for putting
  • Club-triggered, not handedness-triggered
  • One spot for both golfers
Right

Left-Handed Stop

Recalled automatically for left-handed golfers

  • User-defined position
  • Optimal sensor offset for LH swings
  • Stored and repeatable

Plus: Motion Behavior You Control

Travel speed and acceleration are adjustable, so the carriage can be tuned for a slow and quiet reposition or a quick transition between players. Because control is wireless, adjustments are made without touching the rail.

Who SIMRail Is Built For

Rooms Where Width Is The Constraint.

Mixed-Handedness Households

A right-handed golfer and a left-handed golfer sharing one bay, without either side accepting a compromised sensor position.

Narrow Home Builds

Basements, spare bedrooms, and garage bays around 10 to 12 feet wide where a fixed dual-handed overhead layout does not fit.

Retrofit Installations

Existing overhead simulator builds that need left-handed capability added without widening the room or relocating the enclosure.

Studios And Instructors

Teaching bays that cycle between students of both handedness and cannot lose time to manual sensor repositioning.

What SIMRail Replaces

The Alternatives, And Why Motion Wins.

A Second Launch Monitor

Buying a dedicated sensor for each handedness costs multiples of a rail system and still requires ceiling space for both units.

Manual Repositioning

Unmounting and remounting a sensor between golfers risks calibration drift, hardware wear, and a ladder in the hitting bay.

A Compromised Center Mount

Splitting the difference leaves both golfers slightly off the sensor's ideal capture zone instead of putting each one in it.

SimKit Bundles

Building The Whole Bay, Not Just The Rail.

SIMRail is an add-on for an overhead simulator build. If the launch monitor, projector, enclosure, and hitting mat are still being sourced, start from a complete package and add the rail on top of it.

Pre-Built SimKit Bundles

Ready-made simulator packages curated by Elite Sim Golf. Each SimKit pairs an overhead launch monitor with a matched enclosure, projector, hitting mat, and accessories — no sourcing required.

Frequently Asked Questions

SIMRail Buyer FAQ.

What does SIMRail actually do?

SIMRail is a motorized ceiling-mounted rail system that carries an overhead golf launch monitor and repositions it laterally. It moves the sensor to the correct side of the hitting area based on whether a right-handed or left-handed golfer is playing, using the hand setting in GSPro.

How narrow a room can SIMRail work in?

SIMRail is designed to deliver full left- and right-handed capability in rooms as narrow as roughly 10 feet of width. That is well below the width a fixed dual-handed overhead setup normally requires.

How far does the rail travel?

Total rail travel is 4 feet 6 inches, which provides a standard offset capability of plus or minus 2 feet 3 inches from the center position.

How many positions can be programmed?

Three: left, center, and right. All three are customizable, and the center position can be assigned to specific clubs so that both golfers use it for those shots.

Why would the center position be used?

Putting is the most common reason. Assigning the putter to the center position means both right- and left-handed golfers putt from the same spot in the middle of the hitting area rather than from the side stops.

Does SIMRail require GSPro?

Automatic handedness-based repositioning is driven by GSPro, so GSPro is required for that behavior. GSPro is licensed separately from SIMRail.

How does SIMRail communicate?

Communication is wireless over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. No dedicated control cable has to be run down from the ceiling to a PC.

Can the movement speed be adjusted?

Yes. Both travel speed and acceleration are adjustable, which allows the carriage to move gently for stability or faster for quicker transitions between players.

Which launch monitors is SIMRail compatible with?

SIMRail is built for ceiling-mounted overhead launch monitors and is intended to work with any overhead sensor running GSPro. Confirm the mounting footprint and weight of the specific monitor bracket before installation. It pairs naturally with the VTrack Overhead Launch Monitor.

Does SIMRail take up floor space?

No. The rail, carriage, and cabling all mount overhead, so the hitting area, mat, and walk-in space remain unobstructed.

What kind of ceiling is needed?

SIMRail must be anchored into structure that can carry the rail assembly plus the launch monitor mounted to it. Ceiling height also has to satisfy the clearance requirement of the overhead sensor being used. Overhead mounting guidance is available on the setup and support page.

Is a launch monitor included with SIMRail?

No. SIMRail is a rail and motion system only. The overhead launch monitor is purchased separately, either on its own or as part of a SimKit package.

Is SIMRail cheaper than a second launch monitor?

In nearly every case, yes. A second overhead sensor dedicated to the opposite handedness costs a multiple of a rail system and also consumes additional ceiling space and cabling.

What support is available after purchase?

Elite Sim Golf provides post-purchase support for the products it sells, including installation guidance and help getting the rail communicating with GSPro. Support is reachable through the setup and support page.
