4K Detail From A Compact Short Throw, Ready For The Bay
The Optoma GT3900UHD is the newest 4K model in Optoma’s compact short-throw family. It puts out 4,000 ISO lumens at 3840 × 2160, uses a fixed 0.496:1 lens that fills a 100″–150″ image from roughly 3.6–5.4 ft, and has a dedicated Golf Sim color mode. Input lag runs as low as 4.3 ms at 1080p/240Hz. The sealed DuraCore laser is rated up to 30,000 hours, with IP6X dust protection and 24/7 operation.

Why The GT3900UHD
Built For Home Theater, Game Room, And Golf Sim
Optoma designed the GT3900UHD for three uses in one room: movies, gaming, and golf simulation. It replaces the UHZ35ST in the lineup at the same short 0.496:1 throw, with 4,000 lumens instead of 3,500, plus Golf Sim Mode and GSPro picture tuning through the Optoma Smart Control app.
True 4K UHD Detail
More than 8 million pixels at 3840 × 2160. Ball flight, pin flags, and green contours stay sharp on a large impact screen, even from the hitting position.
4,000 Lumens Of Laser Light
Rated at 4,000 lumens to ISO 21118. Enough output to hold color and contrast in a garage or basement bay that isn’t fully blacked out.
Golf Sim Color Mode
A dedicated Golf Sim picture mode tunes for brighter blue skies, deeper shadows, and natural fairway greens, so courses look realistic instead of oversaturated.
GSPro Picture Tuning
The Optoma Smart Control mobile app includes purpose-built display tuning for third-party golf software such as GSPro, applied from a phone without digging through menus.
Short Throw, Fewer Shadows
The 0.496:1 lens throws a 100″–150″ image from about 3.6–5.4 ft. Mounting close to the screen keeps the projector out of the light path and cuts golfer shadows.
Low-Lag Response
16.7 ms at 4K/60Hz, 8.6 ms at 1080p/120Hz, and 4.3 ms at 1080p/240Hz. Fast enough for competitive gaming and responsive sim play.
Who Is It Best For?
- Shallow rooms that need a big image close to the screen
- Golfers who want 4K without paying for 5,000+ lumens
- Multi-use rooms: sim, movies, and console gaming
- Upgraders replacing a lamp or 1080p projector
- GSPro players who want sim-specific picture tuning
- Garage and basement bays with some ambient light
Short Throw & Setup
Placement And Geometry Toolkit
Placement Flexibility
The fixed 0.496:1 lens is built for tight rooms. Optoma rates it for a 100″–150″ image from about 3.6–5.4 ft away. The 114% native offset places the image fully off the lens centerline, which suits an inverted ceiling mount.
- Throw ratio: 0.496:1 (fixed, no zoom)
- Projection distance: 0.98–10.83 ft
- Image size: 30″–150″ diagonal (Optoma rating)
- Native offset: 114%
- Keystone: horizontal ±15°, vertical ±15°
- Aspect ratios for impact screens: 16:9, 16:10, 4:3, 1:1
Installer Checklist
With a fixed lens and no zoom, mount position decides image size, so confirm placement before drilling. Keystone and geometric correction are for fine-tuning, not for fixing a mount in the wrong spot.
- Confirm screen width and final aspect ratio
- Verify ceiling height and the mount’s position relative to the tee
- Confirm throw distance with the projector fitment tool
- Plan HDMI, power, and optional RJ45 runs to the mount
- Center the projector on the screen; no optical lens shift is listed
- Apply Golf Sim Mode or GSPro tuning after alignment
What Is The GT3900UHD
Optoma’s New 4K Short Throw For Home And Golf Sim
The GT3900UHD is a single-chip DLP projector with 3840 × 2160 4K UHD output, 4,000 ISO lumens, and a 500,000:1 native contrast ratio (2,000,000:1 dynamic). It uses Optoma’s DuraCore laser light source, rated up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode. The optical engine is IP6X dust-rated, which matters in a golf bay where turf, mats, and impact screens shed fine particles into the air.
Placement range: Optoma rates the GT3900UHD for a projection distance of 0.98 ft to 10.83 ft and a 30″–150″ image, with a 100″–150″ image from roughly 3.6–5.4 ft. The exact lens-to-screen distance depends on your screen width, aspect ratio, and mount, so check your room in the ESG projector fitment tool and throw calculator before you mount.
Mount notes: the chassis measures about 10.8″ × 8.5″ × 4.3″ and weighs 6.4 lbs, so a standard universal ceiling mount handles it. It supports 360° operation and is rated for 24/7 use. The lens is fixed with no optical zoom, and Optoma lists no lens shift, so center the mount on the screen and use ±15° keystone and geometric correction only for final squaring.
Simulator compatibility: any PC-based golf software runs over either HDMI 2.0 input, including GSPro, E6 Connect, TGC 2019, and Awesome Golf. Golf Sim Mode handles color for courses, and the Optoma Smart Control app adds a GSPro-specific picture profile. For console gaming, the projector accepts 1080p at up to 240Hz.

Build The Complete Bay
Pair The GT3900UHD With The Rest Of The Build
A projector is one piece of the simulator. Elite Sim Golf builds the full bay (enclosure, screen, hitting surface, launch monitor, PC, and projector) sized and shipped together so the geometry works the first time.
Pair It With An ESG Enclosure
The Birdie 10 is built for garages and spare rooms, where a short-throw projector does its best work. For a larger screen like the Eagle 12, check your image size against the GT3900UHD’s 150″ rating in the fitment tool first.
Build A Complete SimKit
Pre-built SimKit bundles include the projector, enclosure, hitting surface, launch monitor, and PC, matched to your room size and budget. Or use the Bundle Builder to spec a custom kit.
