How the Custom Impact Screen Builder Works
The Elite Sim Golf Custom Impact Screen Builder is designed to help you configure a golf simulator screen built specifically for your setup. Whether you are replacing an existing screen, building a DIY enclosure, or ordering a custom screen for a new simulator project, this builder allows you to select your finished dimensions, screen material, and finishing options so your order matches your installation needs as closely as possible.
Purpose of the Builder
This builder is meant to simplify the custom ordering process by giving you a structured way to size your screen correctly and choose the finishing details needed for your space. It is especially useful for customers ordering screens for DIY EMT frames, custom-built bays, replacement applications, and enclosures that require specific attachment methods such as grommets, pockets, ball bungees, or zip ties.
Before You Order
Always measure carefully and think through exactly how the screen will attach to your frame or enclosure. A custom screen is built to the dimensions you provide, so taking the time to verify your measurements and mounting method up front is the best way to ensure proper fit and tension once installed.
How to Measure Properly
Start by measuring the total inside area where the screen will sit. From there, you need to account for the attachment method you plan to use.
If a side of the screen will be attached using ball bungees or zip ties, deduct 3 inches from that side. This deduction allows room for the screen edge, the attachment hardware, and the tensioning area so the finished screen does not end up oversized for the opening.
Example: If your frame opening measures 120" wide and 96" tall, and you are using ball bungees on the left, right, and top, you would deduct:
Width: 120" - 3" - 3" = 114"
Height: 96" - 3" = 93"
If a side is not using bungees or zip ties, and instead is using a pocket or another attachment method, that side may be measured differently depending on how the screen will be retained. When in doubt, it is best to contact Elite Sim Golf before ordering so we can help verify the correct finished size for your application.
Bottom Pocket
A bottom pocket is used when the lower portion of the screen will slide over or around a pipe, rod, or weighted bar. This method gives the bottom of the screen a clean, finished look and helps keep the lower edge in position without individual bungee attachment points. A bottom pocket is often preferred when a customer wants a more finished appearance or when the lower edge of the screen needs smooth, even retention across the width of the bay.
Bottom Bungee
A bottom bungee setup uses grommets and individual ball bungees along the bottom edge of the screen to tension it to the frame. This can be a good option when the lower edge needs adjustable tension or when the screen is being attached in the same style as the top and sides. Bottom bungees can make installation more adjustable, but they do create visible tension points along the lower edge and require proper spacing for the bungee hardware.
Screen Material Options
The right material depends on your budget, how often the simulator will be used, and the overall performance level you want from the screen. Below is a general breakdown of the advantages of each option.
Standard Impact Screen
The Premium HD Impact Screen is a great entry-level choice for customers building a simulator on a budget. Its 1-ply construction keeps things simple and cost-effective while still providing a clean, bright image surface for casual play and practice. Ideal for lighter-use home setups where affordability is the priority.
Elite Triple Layer White Impact Screen
The Premium Triple Layer Impact Screen is the best all-around choice for most home golf simulators. It offers a strong balance of image quality, feel, durability, and performance. Customers who want a more refined simulator experience typically land here, as it is well suited for regular use while providing a more premium look and feel than entry-level materials.
Elite Grey Triple Layer Impact Screen
For customers who want a bolder, more cinematic simulator image, the Platinum Grey High Contrast screen is a standout upgrade. Its grey surface helps improve perceived contrast and image depth, making visuals look richer and more refined, particularly in spaces where controlling ambient light is a challenge. This option is ideal for buyers who want their simulator bay to feel more like a premium studio environment.
Important: Custom impact screens are made to order. Because every setup can vary, if you are unsure how to account for your frame, attachment method, pockets, or bungee clearance, contact Elite Sim Golf before placing your order so we can help confirm the proper size.
