Custom Built to Your Room

A Golf Simulator That Disappears Into the Room

The Built-In Golf Room Kit replaces the free-standing enclosure with a wall-to-wall impact screen tensioned on cables and padded wall and ceiling coverage that finishes flush with the framing. No pipes, no corner posts, no frame footprint stealing swing room — turf runs straight up to a bottomless screen edge for a seamless floor-to-image transition.

Every kit is cut to the exact dimensions of one specific room, so it is built to order rather than stocked. Submit the room measurements and finish selections below and a written quote comes back with screen sizing, tile coverage, and freight.

Why Go Built-In

What a Built-In Room Does That an Enclosure Cannot

A free-standing enclosure is faster to assemble and can be moved. A built-in room trades that flexibility for more usable width, a cleaner finish, and a space that still works as a theater or family room when the clubs are put away.

No Frame Footprint

The screen hangs on corner cable anchors, pulley wheels, and cables instead of a pipe frame. Every inch of wall-to-wall width becomes playable width rather than being consumed by uprights and side surrounds.

Bottomless Screen Edge

There is no bottom border on the screen, so hitting turf can run directly up to the fabric. The projected fairway continues into the floor instead of stopping at a vinyl hem.

Full Swing Clearance

With no top rail or corner posts to catch a club, the swing envelope is limited only by the room itself. Padded coverage protects drywall on the walls and ceiling where mishits actually land.

Doubles as a Theater

Specify a true 16:9 or 16:10 screen and the same bay becomes a projection theater. Add recliners and surround sound and the room earns its square footage seven days a week.

Sound and Light Control

Acoustic tile absorbs impact noise and kills the ambient bounce that washes out a projected image. A finished built-in room is measurably quieter and higher contrast than bare drywall.

Reads as Part of the House

Tiles trim around outlets, can lights, and returns, so the finish looks intentional rather than temporary. Built-in golf rooms are a genuine selling feature on a finished basement or bonus room.

Skill required — read this before ordering. This is a construction project, not an assembly project. Installation calls for a laser level, anchoring lag screws into wall top and bottom plates, demoing any trim that interferes with the screen plane, and patient screen tensioning. If that is outside comfortable territory, a free-standing enclosure is the better call — see the Eagle 12 or PRO Series 12x9.
Selection One

Choose the Impact Screen Grade

All three grades are custom sewn to the wall width and are rated for real golf balls. The difference is surface smoothness, layer count, noise, and how the image holds up when the room has light in it.

Entry Grade

Standard Golf Impact

Single-layer heavy-duty polyester with a looser weave. The budget-conscious choice for a first build, a garage bay, or a room where the projector is doing modest work.

  • 100% heavy-duty woven polyester
  • Rated for real golf balls up to 250 mph
  • Good image definition — visible weave up close
  • No noise-dampening layer
Most Popular

Premium White Golf Impact

Three layers of tight-knit impact-resistant polyester with the smoothest face available on a full impact material. The default recommendation for any room with controlled lighting.

  • Triple-layer construction
  • Smoothest surface — best 4K image definition
  • Cushioned center layer quiets ball strike
  • Minimizes bounceback and blocks light bleed
Bright Rooms

High Contrast Gray Golf Impact

The same premium triple-layer fabric in a high-contrast gray. The gray face absorbs stray light instead of reflecting it, so blacks stay black in a room with windows or overhead cans.

  • Identical triple-layer premium material
  • Deeper black levels and richer color
  • Best choice with ambient or natural light
  • Pair with a higher-lumen projector

Which Grade Fits the Room

Fully blacked-out basement with a 4K projector → Premium White. Basement or bonus room with windows, glass doors, or lights that stay on → High Contrast Gray. Garage bay on a budget where practice matters more than picture → Standard.

Selection Two

Set Wall and Ceiling Tile Coverage

Coverage is specified as a depth measured back from the screen wall, ordered in 24″ increments. Tiles are adhesive-backed and can be trimmed on site to work around outlets, switches, can lights, and HVAC returns.

Wall Tile Depth

Measured from the screen wall back along each side wall. This is where hooks, slices, and shanks actually land, so most builds run coverage at least as deep as the hitting position.

  • 48″ (4 ft) — minimum protection around the screen wall corners
  • 96″ (8 ft) — most common; covers the corners and the hitting zone
  • 144″ (12 ft) — full-bay coverage back past the tee for maximum protection

Ceiling Tile Depth

Measured from the screen wall back across the ceiling. Ceiling coverage matters most for topped shots and for absorbing the light bounce that flattens contrast on a projected image.

  • 48″ (4 ft) — protects the ceiling directly above the screen
  • 96″ (8 ft) — covers the projector zone and the swing arc overhead
  • 144″ (12 ft) — full ceiling treatment for the quietest, highest-contrast room

Two Tile Types Are Quoted

Wall tile is a soft low-pile black material that softens impact at the lowest cost per square foot. Acoustic tile is noticeably thicker and adds real sound absorption and ambient light control. Specify a coverage depth below and the quote itemizes both options at that depth so the cost difference is visible before committing.

The Process

From Measurements to a Finished Room

01

Submit the Room

Send width, height, depth, screen grade, and tile depths through the form above. Rough numbers are fine at this stage.

02

Layout Review

Dimensions are checked against clearance requirements, the screen is sized to a true aspect ratio, and tile quantities are calculated.

03

Written Quote

An itemized quote comes back with screen size and grade, wall tile versus acoustic tile pricing at the chosen depth, hardware, and freight.

04

Build and Ship

On approval the screen is sewn to size and the kit ships with anchors, pulleys, cables, zip ties, and a layout diagram.

Choose a Projector for a Built-In Room

Built-in rooms usually run deeper than a free-standing enclosure, which changes throw distance and mounting position. Confirm placement with the Projector Fitment Tool before ordering, especially if a ceiling-mounted overhead launch monitor is going in.

Premium 4K

BenQ AK700ST

  • 4K UHD resolution
  • 4,000 ANSI lumens
  • Throw ratio 0.69 – 0.83
  • Laser light source, 20,000 hr
  • Auto Screen Fit, Golf Mode, IP5X
Full overhead launch monitor clearance — the AK700ST's short-throw lens and ceiling-rear mounting position do not interfere with ceiling-mounted overhead launch monitors such as VTrack.
View BenQ AK700ST
Best Value Laser

Optoma GT2400HDR

  • 1080p resolution
  • 4,200 ANSI lumens
  • Throw ratio 0.496:1 fixed
  • DuraCore laser, 30,000 hr
  • 8.4 ms lag, IP6X, HDR10/HLG, 360°
Ultra-short throw consideration: the GT2400HDR's 0.496:1 throw ratio requires the projector to mount much closer to the screen than a standard short-throw model. In setups with a ceiling-mounted overhead launch monitor such as VTrack, verify that the projector mounting position does not conflict with the monitor's ceiling bracket before purchasing. Use the Projector Fitment Tool to confirm placement.

Questions

Built-In Golf Room Kit FAQ

Why is this quote-only instead of a fixed price
The impact screen is sewn to one specific wall width and the tile package depends on how far back coverage runs, so no two builds carry the same bill of materials. A quote also allows the dimensions to be sanity-checked against clearance requirements before anything is cut, which prevents the most expensive mistake in a built-in project.
How much room do I need
Plan on at least 14 ft of width for a centered tee, 9 ft of ceiling height for a comfortable full swing, and 7 ft of swing clearance in every direction. The player should stand at least 10 ft from the screen. Allow 12 in of buffer space behind the screen plus another 6 in for installing the flaps, and the screen itself installs on a level plane 1 ft off the rear wall.
What is the difference between the three screen grades
Standard Golf Impact is a single layer of heavy-duty woven polyester — the budget option, rated for real golf balls up to 250 mph, with a visible weave and no noise dampening. Premium White Golf Impact is three layers of tight-knit impact-resistant polyester with the smoothest face available, a cushioned center layer that quiets ball strike, and minimal bounceback. High Contrast Gray Golf Impact uses that same premium triple-layer fabric in gray, which absorbs stray light for deeper blacks and richer color in rooms with windows or lights that stay on.
Should I choose white or gray
Choose Premium White for a room that can be fully darkened, where a white surface returns maximum brightness. Choose High Contrast Gray when the room has windows, glass doors, or overhead lighting that stays on, since the gray face absorbs ambient light instead of reflecting it and keeps blacks from washing out to gray. Gray pairs best with a higher-lumen projector.
Why are tile depths ordered in 24 inch increments
Tiles are manufactured and packaged in standard 24 in modules, so specifying coverage in 2 ft steps means full tiles are used and waste stays low. Coverage depth is measured back from the screen wall — 48 in protects the corners nearest the screen, 96 in is the most common choice because it covers the corners plus the hitting zone, and 144 in gives full-bay coverage back past the tee.
What is the difference between wall tile and acoustic tile
Wall tile is a soft, low-pile black material that softens impact at the lowest cost per square foot. Acoustic tile is noticeably thicker and adds real sound absorption and ambient light control on top of impact protection. Both are adhesive-backed and can be trimmed on site to work around outlets, switches, and can lights. Every quote itemizes both at the requested depth so the cost difference is visible.
Can I use padded panels or curtains instead of tiles
Yes. Padded panels are the most protective option — a foam-padded core wrapped in black woven upholstery fabric, custom-sized to the room and hung on French cleats or Z-clips. Retractable curtains suit walls with doors or windows that need to stay accessible, pulling out for play and back for access. Note the preference in the room notes field and the quote will include that option instead of, or alongside, tiles. Padded panels ship by freight and require an extra 36 in of allowance per panel.
Is this something I can install myself
Only with real construction experience. Installation requires setting the screen on a level plane 1 ft off the rear wall using laser levels, demoing any trim board that interferes with that plane, anchoring lag screws into the top and bottom wall plates, and patiently tensioning and adjusting the screen. Panels additionally require laying out placement from a supplied diagram and attaching cleats to studs or drywall anchors. If that is outside comfortable territory, a free-standing enclosure assembles tool-free in an afternoon.
What if my framing is not finished yet
That is the ideal time to get a quote. Selecting a true 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio up front determines the finished wall width, so the framing can be built to match the screen instead of the screen being compromised to fit the framing. Choose a planning-stage timeline in the form and send the intended dimensions.
Does the built-in room work with any launch monitor
Yes. Because there is no enclosure frame, both ceiling-mounted overhead units and floor-based units work. Overhead monitors such as VTrack are a natural fit for a built-in room since the ceiling is already being finished and cable runs can be concealed during the build. Confirm projector placement with the Projector Fitment Tool so the projector and the monitor bracket do not conflict.
Is a hitting mat included
No. The Built-In Room Kit covers the impact screen, mounting hardware, and the wall and ceiling finish. Hitting mats, landing turf, projectors, and launch monitors are quoted separately and can be added to the same quote — note them in the room notes field, or build a full package with the SimKit Bundle Builder.
How long does a quote take and is there any obligation
Quotes typically come back within one business day. There is no obligation, no payment is collected through the form, and nothing is added to the cart. The submission goes directly to info@elitesimgolf.com and a confirmation copy is sent to the email address provided. To speak with someone directly, call or text 865-657-1028.
