Everything below condenses the official guide into the order most customers actually work through it, then adds the parts ProTee cannot cover: your activation code, the two free swing cameras from Elite Sim Golf, free remote setup, and direct ESG support.
The Files You Need.
ProTee Labs is the software that drives the VX. Download it straight from ProTee United, then keep the manual handy for the deeper settings.
ProTee Labs must be activated the first time it opens. When your ProTee VX ships, Elite Sim Golf sends an automated email containing your ProTee VX serial number and your ProTee Labs activation code. The code comes from Elite Sim Golf as your authorized reseller, not from the ProTee website. Check spam and promotions folders first, then email support@elitesimgolf.com if it did not arrive.

Drill, appropriate drill bit, screwdriver, tape measure, pencil, and a ladder. A second person is strongly recommended for lifting the unit into the ceiling mount.
Get It On The Ceiling.
The VX does not require a specific distance from the impact screen. It reads the ball and club in the space between the hitting mat and the unit itself, so mounting position is driven by ceiling height and the center of your hitting area.
Mounting Guidelines

- Ceiling height is measured from the ceiling to the hitting surface, not to the floor
- Mount offset is measured from the center of the ceiling mount to the center of the hitting area
- The hitting area itself is 25 in × 21 in (65 cm × 55 cm)
- Ceilings above 10 ft require an extender mount to bring the unit into the certified 9–10 ft window
Attach The Mounting Plate
- Position the plate so the arrow points toward the impact screen, with the plate parallel to the screen
- Fix it with the 4 supplied screws (and the 4 wall plugs if your ceiling material needs them)
- Confirm the plate is perfectly straight both horizontally and vertically before final tightening
Hang The Unit
ProTee strongly advises performing this step with two people. The unit is awkward to align overhead alone.
- Align the VX with the openings in the ceiling mount
- Lift the unit into the openings, then slide it to the left in the mount
- Slide until the index plunger clicks into place — that click is your confirmation it is seated

Power And Data.
The VX talks to your PC over Ethernet, not USB. This is the single most common source of confusion, so read this section carefully before opening the software.
Wiring Order
- Connect the C13 power cord from the unit to a power outlet
- Run the supplied 32 ft / 10 m Cat6 cable from the VX directly to the Ethernet port on your PC
- Flip the red power switch on the back of the VX
- The left and right LED ring lights come on for a few seconds, then switch off automatically — that is normal. ProTee Labs turns them on when needed
The Cat6 cable occupies your PC's built-in Ethernet port. If your internet is hardwired rather than Wi-Fi, use the included USB-to-Ethernet adapter for that internet connection and plug it into a blue USB 3 port. The VX itself always uses the PC's native Ethernet port.
Install ProTee Labs.
ProTee Labs is the bridge between the VX and your simulator software. Install it once, activate it once, and it stays licensed — there is no subscription.
Installation
- Download the installer using the ProTee Labs Installer link above
- Run proteelabssetup.exe from your Downloads folder and click Next
- Accept the terms by clicking I Agree
- Select ProTee Labs and click Next
- Click Finish — a ProTee Labs icon is created on your desktop
Activation
- The first launch prompts you to register and activate
- Enter the activation code from your Elite Sim Golf shipment email — the same email lists your VX serial number
- Keep that email. The serial number is what ESG and ProTee United use to look up warranty and support cases
- Cannot find it? Check spam and promotions, then email ESG support and it will be reissued
ProTee Labs core tracking and practice functionality carries a perpetual license with no annual fee. Third-party simulator software such as GSPro or TGC 2019 is licensed separately by its own publisher, and E6 Connect or Creative Golf 3D require a separately purchased connector.
Calibrate The Camera System.
The VX uses two high-speed cameras that must be calibrated before first use. Skip this and your numbers will look strange. It takes about ten minutes.
Calibration Sequence
- Launch ProTee Labs from the desktop and open Settings
- Select ProTeeVX from the device list and click Connect. Wait for the status in the top right to read CONNECTED
- Click Calibrate System
- Place the calibration board in the center of the play area, pointed toward the screen and aligned straight with both the hitting mat and the screen. Level it with the supplied bubble level
- Click Calibrate World
- Manually adjust the play area — this defines the limits inside which the VX looks for the ball and detects shots
- Click Done to return to Settings. The VX begins searching for a ball in the area you defined
The calibration board's alignment is how the cameras learn what "straight forward" means. If it sits crooked, every shot inherits that error.
- Board square to the mat and the screen, not to the room
- Level confirmed with the bubble level before running the routine
- Results slightly off later? The VX can be recalibrated at any time — no reinstall needed
Confirm It Is Live
ProTee Labs shows unit status in the top right corner. When it finds a ball inside the hitting area, the status changes to Ready for shot. That is the green light to open your simulator software and tee up.
Setting Up The Two Swing Cameras.
Every ProTee VX ordered from Elite Sim Golf currently includes a set of two ProTee swing cameras at no additional cost, for face-on and down-the-line video synced to every shot inside ProTee Labs.
Placement
- One camera beside the hitting area for the face-on angle, one behind it for down-the-line
- Both connect to the same Windows PC that runs ProTee Labs and your simulator software
- Video plays back side by side with the shot data from that same swing
Tripods and camera mounts are not included with the promotional camera set and are sold separately. Any standard camera tripod or wall mount will work — position matters far more than the hardware.

Free Remote Setup. Done With You.
Every ProTee VX purchased from Elite Sim Golf includes a free remote setup session. An ESG tech hops on a video call, walks you through ProTee Labs, confirms the VX is talking to your PC, and runs calibration with you. Most sessions take about an hour.
ProTee VX Troubleshooting Guide.
Unit not connecting, no camera image, or shots not registering — work through these in order. Most setups clear up in the first three steps.
The Cat6 cable must run from the VX directly into the PC's Ethernet port. No routers, no switches, no USB-to-Ethernet adapter in that path — the adapter is for your internet connection only.
Reseat the cable at both ends. A partially seated Cat6 connector is the single most common cause of a unit that will not appear in the device list.
Press the red switch on the back of the unit. The LED ring lights should illuminate briefly and then switch off on their own. If nothing lights at all, try a different outlet and confirm the C13 cord is fully seated in the unit.
In Settings, select ProTeeVX from the device list and click Connect, then watch the status indicator in the top right. If it never reaches CONNECTED:
- Confirm Windows Firewall and any antivirus are not blocking ProTee Labs
- Disable the Ethernet adapter in Windows, re-enable it, then restart ProTee Labs
- Restart the PC with the VX powered on and the cable connected
Reseat the Cat6 cable at both ends, then temporarily disable antivirus and try again. Antivirus software frequently blocks the camera video stream before it reaches ProTee Labs.
Power down the VX and the PC, disconnect the network cable, wait 60 or more seconds, reconnect, then power on the VX first and the PC second.
The wait drains residual charge and forces a fresh network handshake at boot.
Shots registering but the data looks off is nearly always a calibration issue, not a hardware fault. Recheck that the calibration board was square to the mat and screen and level, then rerun Calibrate System. The VX can be recalibrated as many times as needed.
The play area you defined during calibration sets the boundaries inside which the VX looks for a ball. If the status never reaches Ready for shot, rerun calibration and widen the play area, keeping the ball inside the 25 in × 21 in hitting zone.
