Why The LK936ST
The Top-Tier BenQ Build For The Largest Screens
The LK936ST is the build for golfers who want the brightest, sharpest, most install-flexible BenQ in the lineup. More brightness than the AK700ST, generous lens shift versus the fixed-lens LK830ST, and a dust-sealed laser engine for years of clean operation in real-world bays.
5,100 ANSI Lumens
The brightest projector in the BenQ golf-sim lineup. Drives the largest impact screens and holds image contrast in bays with ambient light, windows, or overhead lighting.
True 4K UHD
3840 × 2160 native with 30-bit color (1.07 billion colors). Renders sharp fairway detail, readable simulator overlays, and clean tracer lines at screen sizes up to 300″.
0.81–0.89:1 Short Throw + 1.1× Zoom
Short-throw lens with optical zoom gives meaningful slack on the install position. BenQ-published placement of 10 to 16 ft from the screen for the rated screen size range.
Generous 2D Lens Shift
Vertical ±60% and horizontal ±23% manual lens shift. Mount above and to the side of the hitting area without touching keystone or losing image quality.
Dust-Sealed Laser Engine
The laser optical block is sealed against dust ingress — built for garages, basements, and commercial bays where airborne particles otherwise degrade brightness over time.
30,000-Hour Laser (Eco)
BlueCore laser light source rated up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode (20,000 hours in Normal). Eliminates lamp replacements entirely and holds rated brightness across the full life.
BenQ Golf Mode
Exclusive Golf Mode color profile developed with color experts. Corrects purple fringing using the blue and green colors from popular golf software for natural skies and green grass.
HDR10 + Auto HDR Color Rendition
HDR10 high-dynamic-range support with BenQ’s Auto HDR Color Rendition delivers greater brightness, contrast, and image optimization across simulator and home-theater content.
Who Is It Best For?
- Commercial sim bays and golf studios
- Premium residential builds with the largest screens
- Rooms with ambient light or overhead lighting
- Garages and basements (dust-sealed engine)
- Off-center ceiling mounts needing real lens shift
- Builders running GSPro, E6 Connect, TGC 2019, or Foresight FSX
Short Throw & Setup
The Install Toolkit For Real-World Bays
Placement Flexibility
The 0.81–0.89:1 short-throw lens with 1.1× optical zoom and generous 2D lens shift gives installers the toolkit needed to fit a large impact screen into a real-world bay without distortion.
- Throw ratio: 0.81:1 to 0.89:1 with 1.1× zoom
- BenQ-rated placement: 10 ft to 16 ft from screen
- Screen size: 30″ to 300″ diagonal
- Vertical lens shift: ±60% (manual)
- Horizontal lens shift: ±23% (manual)
- 3D keystone: H/V/Rotation ±40°
Installer Checklist
The LK936ST has real lens shift — use it instead of keystone whenever possible to preserve image quality. Plan the install before drilling.
- Confirm screen width and final aspect ratio
- Verify ceiling height and bay depth
- Use the ESG fitment tool for exact mounting distance
- Plan HDMI or HDBaseT cable runs
- Set projector center of gravity over the mount
- Use lens shift first, keystone only as a last resort
What Is The LK936ST
The Top BenQ For Indoor Golf Simulators
The LK936ST is the top tier of BenQ’s purpose-built 4K golf-simulator projector lineup — brighter, sharper, and more install-flexible versus the compact LK830ST and the prosumer AK700ST. It uses a single-chip DLP engine with a true 4K UHD pixel array, a dust-sealed BlueCore laser light source rated up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode, and a 0.81–0.89:1 short-throw lens with 1.1× optical zoom.
Placement range: BenQ publishes a 10 ft to 16 ft mounting range for the rated screen size range, with screen sizes from 30″ to 300″ diagonal. For the exact lens-to-screen distance based on your screen size and aspect ratio, run the numbers in the ESG projector fitment tool and throw calculator before mounting.
Ceiling mount notes: the LK936ST weighs approximately 15.4 lbs and supports 360° and portrait orientation. The chassis measures 16.4″ × 6.5″ × 13.8″ (416 × 166 × 351 mm). Use the ±60% vertical and ±23% horizontal manual lens shift to align the image to the screen without keystone distortion. The 3D keystone system (±40° on horizontal, vertical, and rotation) plus Corner Fit covers any residual geometry cleanup.
Color and HDR: the LK936ST ships with BenQ’s exclusive Golf Mode color profile, developed with color experts to correct purple fringing using the blue and green tones common in golf simulator software — pleasantly natural blue skies and green grass without manual color tweaking. HDR10 support with Auto HDR Color Rendition delivers higher contrast and brightness on capable sources.
Simulator software: the LK936ST works with all major PC-based sim platforms including GSPro, E6 Connect, TGC 2019, Awesome Golf, and Foresight FSX. It accepts 4K signals over 2 × HDMI 2.0 inputs or 1 × HDBaseT for clean commercial AV runs up to 100 m on a single Cat6 cable.
